Fort Wayne, Indiana, native, McDonald’s All-American and five-star, blue chip recruit Caleb Swanigan, a 6-foot-8-inch power forward, is yet to announce where he will be taking his talents in the fall. Swanigan had been favoring California but his mentor and legal guardian, Roosevelt Barnes, a former Purdue linebacker and NFL player, has been pushing him toward Purdue.
Swanigan committed to Michigan State on April 10 but decommitted after less than a month, reopening the conversation regarding the No. 9 ESPN recruit.
Most analysts believe the only real contenders are Purdue and California, but since his decommitment, rumors of heavy recruiting by John Calipari’s Kentucky Wildcats have surfaced.
