We interrupt the constant coverage of our basketball season to give some love to one of the other sports at Purdue that is gaining a ton of national interest. The women’s track & field team received a program-best No. 10 ranking nationally before the start of the indoor season. The rankings are generally calculated by taking the best results of every athlete available and ranking them as if a mythical national meet was being conducted. Purdue collected 66.34 points, just behind Notre Dame for 9th. From Purdue sports:
The 2016-17 team brings back a wealth of experience and production, including conference champions in the 60-meter hurdles, high jump and 4x400-meter relay, as well as silver medalists in the 60m dash, two in the 400m dash (one from 2015, one from 2016) and the long jump.
