Rashunda Jones earned her first collegiate award this week after being named Big Ten Freshman of the week after Purdue throttled Texas A&M last Thursday 72-58.
Jones came off the bench after Purdue was trailing 8 points to go on a 6-0 scoring run and fuel the Boilermaker offense. She went on to score 14 more points in only 22 minutes of play going 8-11 from the field and 4 of 6 from the charity stripe with 2 rebounds and a block.
This was a huge accomplishment for Jones and the women’s program since they hadn’t had a rookie player receive it since Karissa McLaughlin won it in 2017.
