After not taking the field during the team’s three-game weekend series with Maryland, Boiler pitcher Shane Bryant returned to the mound fresh off of last week’s eight-inning shutout gem against Ball State. The junior got off to another hot start against the Redbirds, retiring the first five batters he faced.
Meanwhile, Purdue’s bats were giving Bryant all kinds of run-support, with the Boilers exploding for six runs on seven hits in the first inning alone. The Redbirds elected to start sophomore Craig Larkin against Purdue despite the fact the southpaw had thrown just six innings the entire season.
