Purdue swimmer earns national honor

Emily Fogle earned the award which is "intended to honor student-athletes who have overcome great personal, academic, and/or emotional odds to achieve academic success while participating in intercollegiate athletics," according to the N4A Website.

Fogle is a Purdue record holder in three events and two relays.

She has overcome three hip surgeries, Anorexia Nervosa and severe depression intensified by the unexpected loss of her mother.

She will compete as a senior during the 2015-16 season after being granted a medical hardship waiver by the NCAA, giving her a sixth year of eligibility.
