Emily Fogle was recently named a Wilma Rudolph Student-Athlete Achievement Award recipient by the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics. According to the N4A website, the award “recognizes those that have overcome great personal, academic and/or emotional odds to achieve academic success while participating in intercollegiate athletics.”
“There’s not a single person that I’ve ever been around that’s more deserving of the award,” said head swim coach John Klinge.
After record-breaking seasons as a freshman and sophomore, Fogle was sidelined early her junior year due to the first of three hip surgeries. The NCAA granted a medical redshirt, allowing her to compete as a junior during the 2013-14 season, but being forced out of competition in the sport she loved took a toll on Fogle.
