Purdue Softball: Team gears up for three-game road trip

Purdue (28-19, 6-9 Big Ten) heads to Champaign, Illinois, to take on the University of Illinois Fighting Illini (22-23, 11-6 Big Ten) for a three-game series starting on Friday evening.

The Boilers, known for their defense and pitching, have struggled on the offense. They have the third-lowest batting average and the fifth-most strikeouts of any team in the Big Ten.

However, the Illini are a poor fielding and pitching team with a propensity to really swing the bats. The Illini have a team batting average of .329 but have a team ERA north of six.

Head softball coach Kim Schuette says her hitters need to increase their confidence this weekend.
