Purdue softball: Fecho delivers first career no-hitter in 2-0 victory

But neither of them knew just how good it would get.

When right fielder Maya Hughes caught the game-ending fly out along the right field line, everybody knew what happened, except for Fecho.

“It’s one of those things that you don’t want to focus on too much. Obviously, it’s just trying to do your best,” Fecho said. “It’s one of those things that just kind of happened. After the game, everyone was like, ‘Congratulations.’” Fecho wasn’t even sure what had happened.

No-hitters are more common in softball than they are in baseball, but that doesn’t diminish the moment for players or coaches.
