Purdue softball: Boilers' offense relieves pitchers in rout

The Boilermakers are third-to-last in the Big Ten in terms of team batting average. Purdue is hitting .288 for the season, just .013 better than the two teams tied for last place in the same category, Michigan State and Iowa, who are just a combined 6-20 in Big Ten play.

Because of these offensive woes, the Boilers have struggled to give a lot of run support to the pitching staff this season. Despite Purdue’s pitchers posting a collective 2.22 ERA this season, second best in the Big Ten, the Boilers are still just 26-16 – not as great as one would expect with such a great team ERA.
