Saturday’s spring game happened, and the team actually looked ... better, with Team Black coming out on top of Team Gold, 28-23.
The offenses, despite some turnover issues, moved the ball well. Certain players stepped up on defense. The kickoff and kick return teams played fundamentally sound.
Does Purdue look like a national champion in the making? Not quite, but that’s not what this team needs to be right now. Purdue football wants to be competitive again. And, although there were definitely things that needed cleaning up on Saturday, the team looks like it has made progress.
