The NCAA limit on scholarships for FBS Football is 85. In addition to this, schools may not bring in more than 25 players each year on scholarship. That is where things can get very, very confusing on scholarship counts. There used to be ways around things, but now we have grey shirts and blue shirts in addition to blue shirts.
So what does it mean for Purdue? Well, we’re caught in a small pinch right now as we have about as large of an incoming class as you can possibly have. That said, attrition from upperclassmen leaving early has us at a slight disadvantage in terms of the full compliment of players on the roster.
