Basil Smotherman would have been entering the 2015-16 college basketball season as a junior, but has instead decided to redshirt and will focus on being a key piece for the Purdue Boilermakers next season.
According to a report from College Basketball Talk, Purdue announced the decision and Smotherman is 100 percent on board.
Last season with the Boilermakers, Smotherman averaged just 2.7 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. He played in 12.9 minutes per game and simply got buried on the bench.
There is still a lot of potential for him to unlock and this season off will help him do just that.
