I want to throw out this disclaimer before we move forward with this article. I hate pre-season rankings. Pre-season rankings are worthless. They aren't worth the internet space they take up.

That being said it's always nice when your team makes it into them because it gives you an idea of the expectations placed on them. Very rarely does a team win the NCAA Tournament that isn't getting at least some sort of buzz. Does this mean since Purdue is ranked 23rd that they've basically guaranteed themselves a spot in the second round of the NCAA Tournament and the chance to go even further?
