In a game where Purdue was favored to win, with a decent amount of Purdue fans in the crowd, against a team Purdue dominated in the paint in their first meeting, Purdue failed to capitalize. For a 3 minute period in the 2nd half, where Purdue already had a 4-5 point lead, Michigan failed to score a basket. Of course, not to be out done, Purdue failed to score and expand their lead. Michigan finally woke up behind Irvin's 22 points in this game, and finished the game on an 11-0 run, while Purdue didn't score a single point in the final 3:13 of the half.
