I don’t know what would have been worse. IU building off their 28-10 lead and routing Purdue, or Purdue fighting back to tie it, only to lose the game in double overtime.
Honestly, there are times I prefer the former.
Yes, obviously I give props to Purdue for not giving up and fighting back in a rivalry game. They could have bowed out and gotten a head start on the offseason. But now, we still leave the game without the Old Oaken Bucket, but get a baggage full of “what ifs?”
- What if Purdue went for the touchdown instead of the field goal at the IU 3 yard line while down 14-0?
