Purdue Women’s basketball guard Lyndsey Whilby announced via social media that she will be opting-out of the 2020-21 women’s college basketball season early Monday evening. She is the first on Purdue’s women’s hoops team to decide they will not participate.
Included in her message, she said, “I am forever grateful for the opportunity I had to play at Purdue University, Thank you.” There is not a plan in terms of eligibility for athletes in winter sports if they opt-out or the season is not played altogether, so it seems as if Whilby has played her last game as a Boilermaker regardless.
