Christmas came early this year for Purdue head coach Darrell Hazell. As for Boilermaker fans, you could say that the Grinch stole Christmas early. Purdue announced that it will retain Hazell for his fourth year next season, despite causing fans to actually drink boilermakers.
Last Saturday, Purdue caught Nebraska at the right time, beating the Huskers 55-45 at home. Hazell has been in West Lafayette for three seasons and that victory was only his second Big Ten win and his sixth overall win during his tenure.
If Athletic Director Morgan Burke is basing the decision to retain Hazell on beating Nebraska, he is making a big mistake.
