It was a bit of a bittersweet day for the third Boilermaker in action in Rio today. Carmiesha Cox ran a leg of the 4x400 meter relay team for the Bahamas this evening and helped establish a new national record. Her team completed the race in 3:26.36, which established a new national record by more than two seconds.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite enough to move in to tomorrow’s final. The time was only the 11th best among the 16 teams running in two heats. They missed tomorrow’s final by .65 seconds.

The United States had the fastest time of the evening with a 3:21.
