Purdue Athletics announced Purdue’s star defensive end, George Karlaftis has tested positive for COVID-19 today, and is now self isolating at his home.
First and foremost, we wish George a speedy recovery. It is hard to believe that this will not be the only positive test out of the Purdue football program, given what we have seen in the college football world with teams like Wisconsin.
Earlier in the week, it was announced that Purdue’s most recent opponent, Minnesota, also had an outbreak of COVID-19. It is also not out of the question that the virus could have been transmitted to George Karlaftis and potentially other Boilermakers during the game.
