1. Quarterback Play
An integral part of any team’s success, the quarterback is key in putting checks in the win column. The spot has been a revolving door for nearly a decade; the last quarterback to start in back-to-back Purdue season-openers was Curtis Painter in the 2007 and 2008 seasons.
It is hard to imagine anyone but Austin Appleby getting the nod to be the starter for the September 6 season opener at Marshall. The junior started the final seven games for the Boilers in 2014, and Danny Etling, the starter in the first five games last season, left the program.
