As college teams across the country are busy working out the kinks, we are also working out the kinks in our weekly Big Ten football power rankings. While this is overreaction week, we aren’t going to throw Northwestern at number one even though they had the best win. But the Wildcats did make the biggest leap from last week’s initial rankings.
14. Purdue (Last week: 13)
Purdue struggled as expected against a Conference USA team. Quarterback Michael Birdsong of Marshall looked solid against what was supposed to be an improved defense and Devon Johnson put up 89 yards on just 11 carries.
