Appleby started the 2014 season as Purdue’s backup before eventually supplanting Danny Etling and never looking back. Etling transferred to LSU in the fall, thus really making the job Appleby’s to lose to either David Blough or Elijah Sindelar. In 10 games last season, Appleby threw for 1,449 yards, 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while also adding 198 yards and five scores on the ground.
