Not a lot was expected of Michigan State this season. The Spartans were picked to finish well off the pace in the Big Ten East after a dismal year last year, but they have rolled to an excellent season thanks to Kenneth Walker III. He is playing like a Heisman caliber running back and Michigan State has beaten all comers so far.
Of course, 22 years ago they came to Purdue ranked 5th in the nation after a big home win against Michigan and it did not go well for them in a 52-28 loss. It is unlikely Purdue repeats that performance exactly, but the Boilers have already taken advantage of one “trap game” of a team coming off of a huge home win.
