ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The youthful errors that Ed Cooley knows will travel with his Providence College basketball team early this season showed up in spades at the Veterans Classic here at the Naval Academy Friday night.
After jumping out to an impressive start, the Friars couldn’t keep the Wichita State Shockers in check and went on to lose, 83-80.
Markis McDuffie led Wichita (1-1) with 32 points. Samajae Haynes-Jones added 15 points.
Alpha Diallo carried a heavy load and finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. A.J. Reeves added 19 but was the only other Friar in double figures.
