Virginia center Dickens commits to Providence

  • The gaping hole in the middle of the Providence College defense is about to be filled.
Virginia center Dajour Dickens verbally committed to the Friars on Friday afternoon, with the developing 6-foot-10 post presence electing to end his recruitment before the end of his junior season. The news was first reported by Virginia-based analyst Matthew Hatfield.
A four-star talent according to Rivals and ESPN, Dickens also claimed offers from Big East rival Creighton and a host of others that included Virginia, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Memphis and Temple. He took an unofficial visit to Providence last weekend, watching the Friars slip past Georgetown, 75-72, at a sold-out Dunkin’ Donuts Center.
