Villanova 89 PC 69: Top-ranked Cats run by Friars

PHILADELPHIA – On a night where the nation’s top-ranked college basketball team showed a few holes in their armor, they still found a way to win a game by 20 points.

Maybe that’s all you have to know about the current version of the Villanova Wildcats. The No. 1 ranked Cats started slowly, were badly out-rebounded and never really caught fire from the 3-point line yet still beat a pretty good Providence team, 89-69.

The Wells Fargo Center crowd wasn’t quite sure what to make of Villanova falling into a nine-point hole with eight minutes to play in the first half but they sure recognized what happened afterwards.
