VILLANOVA – For the umpteenth time this season, the Providence Friars left a Big East game shaking their heads in frustration.
This time the location was Villanova’s Finneran Pavilion, and the result was a 85-67 defeat that actually could’ve gone either way in the last five minutes.
It clearly went the Wildcats way as they closed the game on a 23-6 run to bounce back from their first Big East loss at Marquette last weekend.
The Friars (14-11, 4-8) did have the Cats (20-5, 11-1) on the ropes for a spell. Providence led 57-55 with 9:17 to play and were only down 62-61 with seven minutes left.
