PROVIDENCE – With an early-season critical moment at hand, the Providence College Friars could not answer the bell Saturday at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.
The Friars fell into a deep first half hole and needed a desperation run in the final minutes to make things interesting before Villanova closed the door for a 65-59 victory.
Providence lost a Big East home game for the second straight time for the first time since 2013. The Friars are now 10-5 and 0-2 with a game at Georgetown next weekend. Makai Ashton-Langford led the Friars with 20 points on a day where the offense limped to 38 percent shooting.
