North Carolina is the Eastern Region’s top seed, and they have been virtually unbeatable in their home state in NCAA Tournament play.
The Tarheels are 33-1 when playing an NCAA Tournament game in the state of North Carolina. A win tonight would extend their in-state tournament winning streak to 28 games, but there is good news: the last, and only time they lost a tournament game here it came in Raleigh… in March of 1979 against Penn.
No program has appeared in the Sweet 16 more than UNC, and they have won at least two tournament games in eight of Williams’ 12 seasons in Chapel Hill.
