Three straight road losses leave a sour taste for Cooley, Friars

PROVIDENCE — It’s easy to see why Ed Cooley and his Providence Friars wore a disgruntled look at their Monday afternoon practice.

The Friars were still licking their wounds from an eye-opening, two-game start to the Big East season. A 26-point loss at Xavier was followed by a 17-point knockout at Butler, both top 25 teams that own big dreams this season.

But after coming on the heels of a 12-point defeat at Boston College, the Friars find their season at a bit of a crossroads heading into Wednesday’s Big East home opener against Georgetown. PC hasn’t started conference play 0-3 since the final season in the old Big East (2013) and doesn’t want to do so now.
