The Season: Runaway in Queens

Related Topics: Queens, Alpha Diallo

Providence entered its Big East opener with a 9-4 record after going 3-3 in December, while St. John’s went 10-2 in conference play and supposedly boasted one of the better defenses in the league.

Instead, this trip to Queens turned into Providence’s most explosive offensive night of the season.

The Friars made 16-30 from beyond the arc, with Jalen Lindsey knocking down six 3-pointers, Alpha Diallo hitting 3-4, and Kyron Cartwright setting a career high with five of his own.

There’s something about Cartwright and New York. Injuries hampered him throughout December, so much so that he failed to score in double figures in five games played.
