Shammgod leaving Providence for NBA with a heavy heart

PROVIDENCE – The first time God Shammgod left Providence he couldn’t wait to fast break out of town. This time is different.

Shammgod, 40, spent the last four years at PC completing his undergraduate degree and starting in grad school. More importantly he says he discovered what he wanted to do with the next stage of his life. That guidance helped him land a job last week with the Dallas Mavericks in player development.

“It’s a lot harder leaving Providence this time than when I played,” Shammgod said.
