Seton Hall 73, Providence 57: Pirates use first-half surge to handle Friars

NEWARK, N.J. --- Consider Wednesday night another missed opportunity for Providence College to record a noteworthy Big East road victory.

Seton Hall looked like the team with upward mobility out of the conference’s middle class, living up to the preseason expectations bestowed upon them by none other than Friars’ coach Ed Cooley.

It was Cooley who cast a lone first-place vote for the Pirates at the league’s annual media day, and it was Seton Hall looking every bit as dangerous as majority favorite Villanova while rolling in a 73-57 triumph over Providence.

Khadeen Carrington and Desi Rodriguez caught fire early, the Friars went cold late in the first half and that was all she wrote from the Prudential Center.
