Seton Hall 72, PC 70: Poor late game execution dooms Friars in overtime loss

By Jeremy SchneiderSpecial to the Journal

NEWARK, N.J. - The Providence Friars faced a Seton Hall team down to nine scholarship players and essentially a six-man rotation on Wednesday night. But the Pirates still managed to give Providence fits and send the game to an extra session.

Providence was in control for most of the first half, but a stagnant second-half offensive performance opened the door for a Seton Hall comeback and the Friar fell, 72-70, in overtime at Prudential Center.

Seton Hall freshman guard Myles Powell hit a floater with nine seconds left in overtime, and Kyron Cartwright's jump-shot wouldn't go on the ensuing possession to clinch the victory for Seton Hall.
