Providence Friars off to best start in 27 years, up to 14th in AP poll

PROVIDENCE - After beating both Boston College and Bryant last week, the Providence Friars have risen one spot to No. 14 in this week's Associated Press writer's poll.
That's the highest PC has been ranked since being No. 12 in the 2004 season. The Friars' 10-1 start is the best for the team in 27 years, or since the 1989 team began 13-0.
PC was 15th in last week's AP poll and 18th in the USA Today coaches poll. The Friars jumped four places to No. 14th in the coaches poll as well on Monday.
