NEW YORK – It's crunch time on college basketball's bubble for the Providence Friars and Ed Cooley wouldn't have it any other way.

Only a month ago Cooley's Friars were bobbing along with a 14-11 overall record and just 4-8 in a competitive Big East. At that point hanging on for a berth in any post-season tournament looked to be a hefty challenge.

But then things began to break in the Friars' favor. Injuries to Edmund Sumner (Xavier) and Maurice Watson (Creighton) opened the door for PC and other Big East teams to make a run at the top of the conference.
