LIMA, Peru — Providence College’s Alpha Diallo led Team USA with 20 points as the Americans put on an offensive show in their Pan American Games debut to beat the Virgin Islands, 119-84, Wednesday at Dibos Coliseum.
“I thought our depth was an important factor today along with our 3-point shooting,” said head coach Ed Cooley, of Providence College. “We got contributions from everyone. We have to guard the ball a little better moving forward, but today was a good day for us.”
Seton Hall’s Myles Powell had 19 points and Villanova’s Jermaine Samuels added 16 points for the Americans, who shot 52 percent from the field and connected on 17-of-34 shots from 3-point range.
