PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Beginning May 18, no traffic will be allowed on Providence College’s portion of Huxley Avenue, the school said in a news release.
The college purchased a stretch of the road, spanning from Eaton Street to Ventura Street, in December 2012 with plans for rebuilding. After construction is complete, Huxley Avenue will connect the school’s two main campus areas, rather than dividing it in half. A center for business studies, a new softball field, parking garages and tennis courts are also planned.
Cars will have to enter through the college’s main gate at Cunningham Square (at the corner of River Avenue and Eaton Street) or at the gate on Eaton Street near the Smith Center for the arts.
