Providence College breaks ground for Friar Development Center

PROVIDENCE - Providence College Broke ground Saturday for the Ruane Friar Development Center, a new, multi-purpose facility attached to Alumni Hall. The first phase of the project will feature a practice facility for the men's basketball program and space for associated athletic department activities.

The school says that Phase I of the project will cost $30 million and is expected to be completed early in 2018. Phase II, estimated at $7.5 million, will be scheduled at a later date.

The project is named for alumnus Michael Ruane `1971 and his wife, Elizabeth. Combined with a commitment to create the Michael A.
