Providence College alum Klisman Sousa is living dream as professional soccer player

From the time he started playing as a child in Cape Verde, Klisman Sousa knew he wanted to play soccer for as long as possible. When he moved to America and his family settled in New Bedford, that dream morphed into a goal of playing soccer professionally.

Dream. Goal. However you want to label it, Sousa is right where he wants to be in life, playing for Hartford Athletic, one of the United Soccer League’s two new franchises.

The Providence College alum signed with the club as an undrafted free agent. Sousa was among the 200 players eligible for the Major League Soccer draft, but after he wasn’t among the select few to have their name called, he sprung into action.
