This marks the first time the Friars have been in the top 10 since January 1978, according to College Poll Archive. Providence was ranked #9 on January 24, 1978.

Under Cooley, Providence has been ranked in the top 25 at some point in each of the past three seasons. That hasn’t happened since 1976-78. In fact, the Friars hadn’t been ranked in the top 25 in consecutive seasons since 1977-78 prior to Cooley’s arrival.

The Friars are one of three Big East teams in the top 10, with Xavier at #6 and Butler at #9.
