PROVIDENCE, R.I. - On the day of an absentee-ballot count that House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello has predicted will seal his re-election to his home-district seat, his Republican opponent Steven Frias is alleging "pervasive mail ballot fraud." Frias went to the state Board of Elections today with an affidavit alleging that a Mattiello campaign worker went door to door collecting absentee ballots in violation of a state law requiring they be witnessed by two people, or notarized in the presence of the voter.
