CRANSTON, R.I. — Mayor Allan Fung said that, as of about 4:40 p.m., the city appeared to have gotten by without any serious crashes due to the storm. The biggest traffic problem occurred on New London Avenue just south of the Route 37 ramps, where a utility pole went down and the southbound lanes had to be closed while it was being repaired. Fung said police are also watching for reports of private plow contractors who, while clearing parking lots, were pushing snow back into the streets. Earlier in the afternoon, Fung said city public works crews were paying special attention to flood-prone areas in the city.
