PROVIDENCE – Ed Cooley and the Big East Conference are about to take on a very big test on a world-wide stage.
In association with USA Basketball, Cooley and players from the Big East will represent the United States at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru this summer. Cooley will serve as head coach of a team made up entirely of Big East players.
This is a different, unique approach to international basketball. Big East commissioner Val Ackerman is a past president and long-time supporter of USA Basketball and she was at PC Tuesday to help announce the initiative and show support for Cooley.
