PROVIDENCE — The reviews of the United States basketball entry in the Pan American Games are somewhat predictable.
Myles Powell, Seton Hall’s high-scoring guard, can fill it up. Creighton’s Ty-Shon Alexander and St. John’s wing Mustapha Heron are wired to score. Providence big man Nate Watson is a beast on the block and fellow Friar Alpha Diallo is the do-it-all player any team needs.
But over the course of the team’s four days of practice and two exhibition games, one wildcard has emerged. It’s a development that should excite Friar fans very much.
Slowly but surely, guard David Duke is polishing the talent that makes him a player every coach covets.
