Providence native David Duke is in the spotlight today at Madison Square Garden.
Duke, a freshman point guard for the Providence Friars, was named the co-freshman of the year in the Big East along with Villanova’s Jahvon Quinerly. The announcement was made at Big East Media Day in New York.
Teammate Alpha Diallo was one of six players named to the Big East’s preseason all-conference team. He is joined by player of the year pick Shamorie Ponds of St. John’s, Markus Howard (Marquette), Kamar Baldwin (Butler), Eric Paschall (Villanova) and Jessie Govan (Georgetown).
Duke, Diallo and the Friars were picked to finish third in the Big East’s preseason poll of head coaches.
