PC-UConn exhibition may rekindle long-running series + VIDEO

PROVIDENCE — There will be no Jim Calhoun prowling the sidelines, Richard Hamilton hitting dagger jumpers or Kris Dunn knifing to the rim at the Mohegan Sun Arena Wednesday night.

What fans will see, however, is a rarity: the Connecticut Huskies and Providence Friars together on a basketball court. The Huskies and Friars haven’t faced each other since the Big East was dissolved by six Catholic school members back at the completion of the 2013 season. The schools haven’t expressed much of a desire to renew a series that began in 1928 and lasted for 72 often-memorable contests.
