PC Takes 2K Classic Title

It’s hard not to be encouraged on Friday evening.

Providence rolled past St. Louis, 90-63, to capture the 2K Classic Championship at Madison Square Garden behind a crisp offensive display and an improved defensive effort.

Talk about balance. No Friar took more than eight shots, and eight of Ed Cooley’s bunch scored seven points or more in the win.

The story of this game was the continued strong play of Providence’s bench, specifically its guards.

Freshman point guard Makai Ashton-Langford put on a show in the first half, scoring on a variety of difficult finishes in the paint when the game was still closely contested.
