The Providence College men's soccer team will meet No. 9 North Carolina in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I tournament on Friday.
The Tar Heels (13-3-3) beat the Orange, 1-0, Sunday afternoon in Syracuse, N.Y., to earn a date with the Friars (15-6), who topped Creighton, 2-1, Saturday night in Omaha, Neb. PC will face UNC Friday night at 7 in Chapel Hill, N.C. The winner will head to the Final Four in Houston.
Saturday's 2-1 win meant PC advanced to the Elite Eight for the second time in program history, with the last quarterfinal appearance coming in 2014.
