PROVIDENCE — The president of Providence College, the Rev. Brian J. Shanley, announced on Friday that he will step down after 15 years when his current term ends on June 30, 2020.
In July, Father Shanley will become the longest-serving president in Providence College history. He began his first five-year term as president in 2005. He was subsequently elected to two additional five-year terms by the College Corporation and its board of trustees.
The college will now begin the process of looking for his successor.
